A Statement from the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Condemning Violence at the U.S. Capitol

Ramiro A. Cavazos, President & CEO of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), released the following statement today:

“Today’s troubling display of insurrection inside the halls of the U.S. Congress are a disgrace to our American values of democracy, freedom of speech, and respect for the rule of law. What our country saw today was an attempted coup to erode our democracy and peaceful transfer of power in the nation’s capital during a joint session of the U.S. Congress to accept the results of our Electoral College.

Enough is enough. Violence has no place in our democratic process. We join the resounding voice of our national business, civic, and government leaders to call for an end to all attacks to our nation’s democracy, and to hold those involved today in criminal activity accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Our thoughts are with the Members of Congress, their staff, members of the media, and members of law enforcement at this critical time.”
