Rumba Meats Joins the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to Provide Economic Relief Grants to Small Businesses

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Cargill and Rumba Meats, its meat brand focused on celebrating family and keeping Latino traditions alive, have partnered with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) to launch a new Emergency Economic Relief Grants Program to assist Hispanic Chambers of Commerce and small business owners affected by COVID-19.

 

More than 86% of Latino business owners report experiencing immediate negative effects of COVID-19, according to a recent survey by Stanford University. Similar estimates have been reported for other entrepreneurs of color.

 

The USHCC and Rumba Meats are proud to launch this competitive grant application to help small business owners and strengthen local Hispanic Chambers to support small business recovery, with a focus on helping Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs). The USHCC and Rumba Meats have launched this program to help more chambers provide support, resources, and technical assistance to small business owners.

 

Hispanic Chambers of Commerce throughout the United States provide valuable support to job creators and businesses. Especially during this time, chamber employees are becoming go-to hubs for bilingual technical assistance when business owners fill out applications for government relief programs. Local chambers are also helping small businesses transition to online/digital platforms, shift their business models to new innovative strategies, and training them on virtual/remote resources.

 

“As small businesses work to re-open their doors, they’ll need access to the resources and tools offered by USHCC’s National Network of Hispanic Chambers of Commerce,” said Ramiro A. Cavazos, President & CEO, USHCC.  “Nearly half of small businesses are a member of their local chamber. They’ll be looking to these chambers for guidance and support as we work to jumpstart the economy and get people back to work.”

 

As a result of COVID-19 impacts, the USHCC and Rumba Meats have developed a grant partnership to ensure that MBEs have access to the information, resources, and funds they need to get past these difficult times. Small business owners will also be able to apply for microgrants to help their business through this new program.

The Emergency Relief Grants Application will launch Friday, June 5, 2020 on the USHCC website for Chambers of Commerce to apply by visiting www.ushcc.com.

 

The grant guidelines are open to specific high-density markets in the U.S. including Miami, Dallas/Fort Worth, Boston, Philadelphia, Tampa, and Washington D.C. Funds will be designated for training programs for small business owners and micro-grants to support local small business owners. The USHCC will work through our network of Hispanic Chambers of Commerce in each target market to make funds available for local businesses impacted by COVID-19.
