Fernand “Fern” Fernandez, most recently, American Airlines’ Vice President – Global Marketing is an experienced airline executive with more than 20 years in the industry. In that role, Fernandez lead the team responsible for advertising, brand, product development, promotions, sponsorship and marketing initiatives for all of the company’s products and services.
He worked across the enterprise and partnered with various operational departments, such as reservations, airport customer service, and in-flight service to create and deliver an industry leading customer experience.
Fernandez joined U.S. Airways in 2007, as Director – Dividend Miles and was later promoted to Managing Director – Marketing and Customer Loyalty where he led a team responsible for managing the efforts to provide high-value, world-class loyalty and partnership programs for U.S. Airways 30 million members worldwide. In addition Fern led all marketing, communications and advertising activities at U.S. Airways, Dividend Miles and U.S. Airways Vacations.
He began his airline career at TWA followed by Northwest Airlines where he held a number of increasingly responsible positions in Finance, Alliances, Marketing and Sales.
A native of South Florida, he graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science and Business Administration. Fernandez is on the Board of Directors of the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C. He is also on the Board of Directors of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Fernandez lives with his wife and two children in Colleyville, TX.
