Chief of Staff
Gissel Gazek Nicholas serves as Chief of Staff of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC). During her seven years at the USHCC, Gissel has held a number of executive positions, and now as Chief of Staff, she plans and directs all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the organization. She provides oversight and guidance for the President & CEO’s high-priority projects, and plays a key role in the strategic planning for the organization encompassing both long and short-term agendas.
Before joining the USHCC, Gissel served in the international division of the United States Chamber of Commerce, focusing on Free Trade Agreements in Latin America, specifically DR-CAFTA. Her role was raising public awareness around the benefits of trade with Latin America. Gissel’s expertise involved both the macro level, by evaluating FTA policies, and the micro level through grassroots organizing of special interest groups.
Previously, Gissel worked at the National Council of LaRaza (now Unidos US) in Washington D.C. where she helped develop strategic partnerships, assist in business development and content creation and coordination for the NCLR National Conference.
Gissel earned two graduate degrees at American University in Washington D.C.: A Master of Business Administration from the Kogod School of Business, and Master of Arts in International Affairs at the School of International Service. Gissel is fluent in Spanish.
