USHCC to Honor Bank of America’s Angie Garcia-Lathrop as 2016 Corporate Advocate of the Year

WASHINGTON, DC–(Marketwired – October 10, 2016) – The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) is proud to announce that Angie Garcia-Lathrop, Community Affairs Executive at Bank of America, will receive the Corporate Advocate of the Year Award at the 2016 USHCC National Convention on October 11 in Miami Beach, FL.

This award goes to a corporate executive who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to championing the cause of Hispanic Business Enterprises and has worked tirelessly to advance the mission of the USHCC.

“Time and again, Angie has built bridges between the Hispanic business community and corporate America. Her goal of serving Americans of all backgrounds has been manifested in years of leadership experience at Bank of America,” said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. “Angie ardently believes that when diverse communities succeed, America succeeds. We at the USHCC are proud to commend her as a committed supporter and trusted advisor to our organization, and we’re honored to recognize Angie as our 2016 Corporate Advocate of the Year.”

At Bank of America, Garcia-Lathrop oversees the bank’s strategic alliances with community organizations across the country for various initiatives, including neighborhood preservation efforts, which target philanthropic investments in nonprofits that are assisting families, seniors, and veterans.

“On behalf of all of her teammates at Bank of America, I congratulate Angie for this well-deserved recognition,” said Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan. “Our partnership with the USHCC and the work Angie helps lead is one important way that we live our values and deliver on our purpose to help the real economy to grow in the communities we serve.”

Bank of America was the first financial institution to be inducted into the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR), an organization created to recognize and celebrate those companies investing at least $1 billion annually with minority and women-owned suppliers. Bank of America was also honored at the USHCC’s Million Dollar Club at the 2015 National Convention for investing more than $250 million in contracts with Hispanic Business Enterprises.
