WASHINGTON, DC–(Marketwired – September 12, 2016) – The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced today that both Dr. J. Mario Molina, President and CEO of Molina Healthcare, and John C. Molina, CFO of Molina Healthcare, will receive the USHCC’s 2016 Businessman of the Year Award at the organization’s National Convention on October 11th in Miami, FL.
Each year, the USHCC recognizes a male entrepreneur whose outstanding leadership, pioneering spirit, social and economic contributions exemplify the best of America’s business community.
“The sons of Dr. C. David Molina continue to carry on their father’s legacy of providing quality healthcare to those in financial need. Since Dr. Mario and John took the reins of Molina Healthcare in 1996, the organization has grown tremendously, expanding its services to 12 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, serving more than 4.2 million members through its health plans,” said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. “Thanks to their stellar leadership, Molina Healthcare has been ranked number 201 in this year’s Fortune 500. We commend the Molina brothers for their excellence in management, and are proud to recognize them both as the USHCC’s 2016 Businessmen of the Year.”
“My brother and I are grateful for such a distinguished commendation,” said Dr. J. Mario Molina. “Serving the community by helping the less fortunate with their health needs is our mission, and it is embodied in the actions of our employees nationwide. Their hard work is the backbone of Molina Healthcare, and without them, we would not be receiving such an accolade.”
“We would like to thank the USHCC for the honor of such an award,” said John C. Molina. “At Molina Healthcare, we are committed to treating our members as though they were our own family. We look forward to continued growth so that we may reach even more individuals and families to improve their health and well-being.”
Dr. J. Mario Molina has worked with Molina Healthcare for over 25 years. He was elected Chairman of the Board in 1996, and assumed leadership of Molina Healthcare when his father passed away that same year. Dr. Molina is a member of the American College of Physicians, and a board member of John Hopkins Medicine, Homeboy Industries, and the Aquarium of the Pacific. He is also an Overseer of the Huntington Library.
John C. Molina has worked with Molina Healthcare since the company was founded, serving in various capacities. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California, and former President of the California Association of Primary Care Case Management Plans.
Founded in 1980, Molina Healthcare is a multi-state managed care organization that arranges for the delivery of healthcare services to financially vulnerable families and individuals covered by Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, and other government programs.
