Yammel Sanchez-Ocana is executive director in the Global Supplier Management Group at Merck. Yammel has direct Accountability of all operations with Global scope for Corporate Services and Site Services functions (across Corporate, HR, Finance, Legal, Facilities Management, amongst others).

Yammel joined Merck in 2015 from Johnson Controls, where she led Procurement Operations and Sourcing of Corporate Services where she also led the PMO for the Indirect Procurement Transformation. She has over 20 years of progressive Purchasing leadership roles within Johnson Controls and Materials Management, Export Control and Customer Service roles within BASF and GSK in Mexico, USA and Germany.

Under Yammel’s leadership, she continues building organizational capacity by identifying, growing and providing strong talent for the enterprise pipeline. Recently, she was recognized by our Global Services organization (CFO) with a Coaching and Development Award for demonstrating exceptional, consistent coaching and development efforts with successes across the organization.

Yammel is a passionate, strong supporter of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion. She has been instrumental in leading Merck’s Economic Inclusion and Supplier Diversity efforts.  Yammel is currently serving as Chairperson of our Enterprise Economic Inclusion Leadership Council with the mission to serve as peer-coaches and role models and to make significant strides in managing supplier diversity to yield business results across their teams and the enterprise.

Yammel is a member of the Corporate Advisory Council at the SHCCNJ, member if ALIANZA EBRG (Employee Business Resource Group at Merck) and an Executive Sponsor to MWN (Merck Women Network).  She holds a bachelor’s in communications and Public Relations from Universidad LatinoAmericana in Mexico City, Mexico.
